DARREN Edmondson was delighted that Barrow AFC fans were sent home happy following his side's 'excellent and passionate' winning performance tonight.
The Bluebirds secured a 3-2 home victory over Chester thanks to goals from Andy Haworth, Andy Cook and Niall Cowperthwaite, who netted the hosts' winner with a 77th-minute blockbuster.
The win means Barrow successfully recovered from Saturday's 1-0 reverse at Altrincham, while it lifts them to 12th place in the National League table.
Barrow boss Edmondson said: "I think that it was important that we built on what was an excellent performance at the weekend without taking our chances.
"So we weren't negative about it. We came out tonight and Andy Cook probably could have had a hat-trick in the first five minutes, there was a good save and he had a couple of volleys that he was a bit frustrated with.
"But the boys dug in. That is an excellent performance which was full of passion and desire, and that's what the home fans want to see."
Edmondson has been working towards trying to improve Barrow's end product in front of goal, and so he was naturally pleased that his side found the net on three occasions.
He added: "We've huffed and puffed all season at home to try and put a performance in and goals in that's going to send the supporters home happy.
"They want to see positive results and performances this crowd, they are very honest in their assessment of most games.
"What we're trying to give them back is that little bit of passion and desire, but also that exciting football that they've expected."
Edmondson made three changes to his starting-XI tonight with central midfielder Alex-Ray Harvey, centre-back Steve Williams and striker Ashley Grimes being drafted into the team.
Asked whether he is still trying to figure out his best starting line-up Edmondson responded: "No, not necessarily, we've got to start developing some partnerships.
"I thought the two midfielders (Cowperthwaite and Harvey) were excellent. The two centre forwards (Cook and Grimes) did very well in the first half.
"Grimesy needs a bit more game time, he'll get sharper. He flashed one across goal, three or four inches the other way, it's in the bottom corner.
"Ant Wilson will always come on and give impetus. Once he starts a game he'll be a little bit more happy in himself and we'll see more from him.
"It's exciting from the point of view that all of our strikers are now fit and ready and we can hopefully go and put a few more goals into the opposition's net."
Barrow will continue their campaign at Bromley on Saturday and Edmondson says he won't be afraid to administer more team or squad tweaks if the need arises.
He said: "I selected a team that I thought would win tonight.
"It will be the same on Saturday, there are never any favourites in there.
"Me and Alex (Meechan, assistant-boss) sit down and think about performances and who might need a little bit of rest, who can do what against each team and we've got to go in positively against each one.
"We might find there are one or two differences at Bromley but it will be in a positive way rather than a negative way."
