BARROW AFC boss Stephen Clemence took a watching brief over the weekend ahead of tonight’s trip to Valley Parade.
The Bluebirds were without a game at the weekend as they had already exited the FA Cup.
But neither Clemence or his side were putting their feet up as they geared up for this evening’s League Two clash with Bradford City.
The Barrow head coach told The Mail that the squad had been working hard in training and had a training session on Saturday morning before he headed off to take a look at the Bantams.
He said: “I took in the Morecambe and Bradford game myself after training on Saturday
“I’ve watched three games of them on video, and then I watched the one at the weekend live.
“I’d already watched the video games before the weekend, so you kind of know what you are going to get, but there’s nothing like being there in person you see actually the way players move and you can see what’s going to be coming, and sometimes you don’t get the full picture with the footage that that we get to watch.
“I was pleased I went. It was a good game of football with two teams that had a go at each other and obviously Morecambe came out on top.”
Clemence is also pleased with the work that has been done on the training ground ahead of the league game tonight.
He added: “Preparations have been good.
“Training has been good, and we’ve identified a few areas which we feel we need to improve in if we are going to start getting more results consistently, so we’ve been working on that these last eight or nine days.
“I think after we got beat at Chesterfield 10 days ago, you kind of want another game quickly, but (not having a game at the weekend) it’s given us an opportunity to give a few players, who have been out injured, a little bit nearer to fitness.
“The likes of Kian Spence, Ged Garner and Emile Acquah are closer to playing tonight than they probably would have been had there been a game at the weekend, so that has been a positive.
“And like I say the other positive has been that we have had a chance to really work on some things, which hopefully will see some improvement.
“We know that Bradford will be a tough game, but they are all tough games, so it’s nothing we aren’t prepared for.
“I think it is a game to look forward to as a player, to go and play at a big stadium, with a big crowd there.
“So I think it’s good game to be involved in.”
