Stephen Clemence is hoping he can create some more cup memories for Barrow AFC fans ahead of Saturday's game.

The Bluebirds are in FA Cup action taking on League Two rivals Doncaster Rovers at the SO Legal Stadium.

But, in the hope of putting a difficult October behind them, Clemence is hoping that their recent Carabao Cup run can serve as inspiration going forward.

He said: "Look, we know that we're not going to win the competition, so we have to enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.

"If we can create some more memories for the fans and, just as importantly, create some extra finances for the club, then that should be enough of a reason for us to try to win as many games as possible."

Back in September, Barrow travelled to the capital to face Premier League giants Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, eventually succumbing to a 5-0 defeat.

Despite the result, Clemence is still taking positives from the experience, which are driving him to recapture that night in London.

"The Chelsea game is going to live long in the memory, if just for that moment where we got to go over to all the fans at the end of the game," he said.

"I've never seen anything like, with how many people made the effort of following us for a midweek match, and now I want to give the fans that sort of experience again."

To do that, Barrow will have to make it the Third Round - something that Clemence accomplished with Gillingham last season - and hope for a favourable draw.

And, before that, they will have to pass the stern test that Doncaster represents, having beaten the Bluebirds 1-0 in October.

But the FA Cup goes a long way back for the Clemence family with Stephen's father Ray winning the trophy on two occasions.

"My dad obviously had a lot of success in the cup, with both Liverpool and Tottenham, but I can look at my own career too," he said.

"I've been to the quarter-finals and the semi-final before, and my first goal for Tottenham came in the cup, so it's a competition that I'll always cherish."
