BARROW AFC boss Stephen Clemence refused to rule out more new additions, but says any deal would have to make sense.
The Bluebirds recently strengthened their ranks with the addition of free agent Charlie Kirk.
And Clemence told the Mail that the club could revisit the free market going forward, although did say there was nothing lined up at present.
He said: “We are constantly looking (at players).
“If we can try to improve and help the squad, help the team, then obviously we are open to bringing more people in.
“But I can you tell you at the moment, there is nobody else imminent.”
Clemence says that while they are constantly assessing whether or not to look to bring in more new faces, they aren’t looking to make signings for the sake of it.
“I think anyone you bring in to any football club whatever level you are at, you want to bring them in if you think they can make a difference on a Saturday afternoon.
“We are certainly not in a position where we need squad fillers, so we wouldn’t be just signing someone to add to our numbers.
“We’ve got enough players, we just want to bring players in that can help us and we think Charlie can.”
Clemence said that Kirk was a player he had come across previously, when the winger was at Crewe Alexandra.
And having found out he was a free agent, he decided to take a look and liked what he saw.
He explained: “Obviously, I’m always talking to Iain Wood (Barrow AFC CEO), and he is always keeping up to date about players who are available.
“He told me Charlie was available, and we decided to have a look.
“Obviously, I’ve seen Charlie in the past. I know he is very good technically.
“So we got him in, and we felt he looked fit enough and looked hungry enough to come and have a go with us, so we decided to take that option up.
“We also had somebody else in which we decided to not take the option on.”
With the transfer window set to reopen in January, the Bluebirds may decide to keep their powder dry on any new arrivals for the time being.
But Clemence, Wood and the backroom team are constantly assessing their options and what the team needs to make it even stronger.
So, we could well see one or two more heading to Holker Street at the start of 2025.
