BARROW AFC midfielder Dean Campbell says tonight’s clash at home to Notts County can’t come soon enough.
The Bluebirds suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Accrington Stanley at the weekend – the latest in a run of bad results.
But Campbell sees tonight’s game at Holker Street as a good chance to get back on track.
He told the club’s official YouTube channel: “We are frustrated with our form over the last couple of weeks, but we’ve got another game to look forward to, so you can’t hang on the result too much, you’ve got to be positive and look to the next game.
“We know results need to pick up again, and we are looking forward to another chance tonight to go and pick up three points.
“You know collectively we probably weren’t good enough to go and win the game on Saturday, so you’ve got a chance straight away and go and put it right for yourselves, and the fans as well.
“So, yeah, we look forward to getting back to Holker Street and hopefully putting on a good performance.”
Fourth-placed County will present a tough test for Barrow, but Campbell feels that could be a plus for the Cumbrians.
He added: “I think the last couple of weeks have been different, whereas we’ve had most of the ball in the games and it’s been down to us to go and create chances.
“Before that it was quite end-to-end in the games we were part of, and quite high tempo games that we were playing.
“I look forward to playing another team tonight that will give us a real test.
“We know that we’ve been successful against these sides at the start of the season, so we will bring that confidence into the game, and go toe to toe with them.
“We will all be ready for it. We know it will be a tough challenge, but we also know we are good enough to go and win the game.”
Campbell feels it has been fine margins that have been proving costly in the last few matches, but says the squad is capable of putting things right.
He said: “We probably haven’t created enough chances in the last few weeks, or enough clear-cut chances.
“Then one bit of a defensive lapse and we’ve conceded on both occasions the last few weeks, so we do know that we need to stay consistent.
“We need to be solid at the back and we also need to start creating more chances again, like we were at the start of the season.
“I’m more than confident that we have already shown we can do that, it’s just piecing them both together and I’m sure we will be fine.”
