BARROW AFC head coach Stephen Clemence believes his side can get back on track after a week on the training ground.
With a number of Saturday, Tuesday fixtures in recent weeks, turnarounds after games have been tight for the Bluebirds.
But with no midweek game following last weekend’s clash with Morecambe, Clemence and his backroom team have a had a full week working with the players on the grass.
And the Barrow boss feels that will stand them in good stead as they look to bounce back against Accrington Stanley tomorrow.
He told The Mail: “It’s always good to have a good training week.
“I don’t think we’ve been that far away. I think the games that we have lost recently have been close ones.
“We haven’t conceded lots of chances in the games that we have lost, but people have been quite clinical against us.
“Where I think we can improve is probably our own attacking output in the final third, which I think has dropped a little bit.”
Attack has definitely been one of the key areas of discussion this week, but Clemence says they have also been looking at getting back to delivering the way they did at the start of the campaign.
He said: “I think there is a few things that we need to tidy up on, and get back to some of our principles that maybe we’ve forgotten about a little bit, and we weren’t sticking to the stuff we were doing at the start of the season.
“So, we’ve just had a few reminders about, and yeah a week on the training ground has definitely helped us with that.
“We reviewed the last game with a players (a 1-0 home defeat against Morecambe) and we get their feedback and give our feedback.
“So, we are all trying to get better together, and it’s been a good week.”
Clemence says the things that need to be put right are very small margins and he knows everyone is pulling together to get to where they need to be.
“I’ve said from day one that these lads are determined and hungry to be successful here, and that’s not changed,” he added.
“I have never had to question the lads attitude or hunger so we know it’s just small percentages that we need to work on.
“But we know where we are and for large parts of the season so far there has been some good stuff going on. It’s just about working on these little things and getting back to where we were.”
