BARROW AFC defender Junior Tiensia is looking forward to making the most of his opportunity against Fleetwood Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy tonight.

The full-back is set to start the cup clash at Highbury Stadium and he wants to grab his chance with both hands.

“I’m definitely looking forward to being back out there,” he told the club’s official YouTube channel.

“I haven’t played 90 minutes in a long time, and I haven’t been involved in a long time, so yeah I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

Tiensia has found his game time limited so far this term with Ben Jackson having been in top form since his arrival from Huddersfield Town in the summer.

The full-back says he is eager to take his chance, but understands why he has had to wait.

He added: “I want to play and show what I’m capable of, but I back Jacko. He’s a really good player and he’s come in and done well.

“Like I say I really like to push everyone in the squad to do well, so that’s all good.

“I feel like I am back up to speed with everything and waiting to get my opportunity, and thank God I’m getting it tonight.

“We are a strong side this season. The gaffer has done well and brought in some quality players, and it is hard to break into a team that’s doing well.

“But when you get the opportunity, whether it’s a cup game, whether it’s a league game, no matter where it is, you’ve just got to show yourself and show why you should be starting or give the gaffer something to think about, and I hope I can do that tonight.”

The Bluebirds look set to ring the changes for the clash with Town, and give a number of players time out on the grass.

But Tiensia says that doesn’t mean anyone isn’t giving the game the focus it deserves.

He said: “We’re not taking this game lightly. From the coaching staff to the players I don’t think anyone is taking it lightly.

“We’re all going to treat it as if it was a league game.

“There are some boys who need the minutes, so it’s a good opportunity to showcase ourselves.

“For those of us not getting as many minutes as we want, it’s our chance to show the gaffer, yes we can gel in with the side, we can play the way he wants us to.”
