BARROW AFC head coach Stephen Clemence wants his side to take the game to Doncaster Rovers tonight.
The Bluebirds boss is in no doubt that tonight’s hosts will be a tough test at the Eco-Power Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).
Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, he said: “We are all looking forward to getting back out there tonight against Doncaster.
“We fell short at the weekend against Gillingham, but we have got to make sure we go to Donny, and make sure we take part in the game more, especially from the start of the game to try to take Doncaster on.
“If we do that, I’m sure it will be a very good game of football.”
Tonight’s clash is the third consecutive game on their travels for the Cumbrians, and will be yet another stern test.
Clemence added: “We’ve had Chelsea away, Gillingham away and (we’ve got) Doncaster away – three very tough away games on the spin.
“But this is what you want to be a footballer for.
“You have to take these challenges on if you are going to be successful, and go to places like Doncaster and get a result.”
Barrow will once again be without a number of key players for tonight’s game, but Clemence isn’t showing signs of major concerns.
He said: “We’re not taking any more precautions than usual. We trained them as we normally would yesterday.
“We haven’t really picked up any fresh ones (injuries) from the weekend.
“Obviously, there are few tired legs as there always are a few days after a game and you have to be a little bit careful.
“We have a squad for that reason and obviously that’s why you need to carry a number of players.
“Gone are the days when you could probably go with 14 or 15 (players) like back in the day where the same players play all of the time.
“It never happens now. If you are going to be successful you need everybody, and that’s proving the case at the moment.
“I’d say three or four of the boys have played pretty much every game, which is a tough task, but they are capable, they can do it.
“They are robust enough, and they are doing very well.
“We’ve got a number of weeks before we get a few of the players back, but as I say we’ve people that are ready to step in, and a more than capable of stepping up.
“There’s obviously difficult conversations I have to have with players when they are not in the team.
“The one thing I always say to them is look you have to train well, you have to train hard, you have to make sure you’re ready because you never know it can change at any moment.
“And look if you are playing well enough and you are doing well in the team then you keep the shirt as far as I’m concerned, no matter who is there waiting for it.”
