DALTON and Hindpool progressed to the play off finals in Division One and Two respectively in the North West Men’s League.

However, Askam failed in their bid to reach the final in the Cumberland League’s Division One.

Inspired by Joe Crarey, Dalton defeated a tough Wigan St Cuthbert’s side 32-8 at Kelland Park with impressive full-back Ross Bird running in a hat-trick of tries

Dalton were soon to strike and within five minutes were putting points on the board.

Bird linked up in attack was on hand to weave through the cover to cross the whitewash, for Pat Kelly to convert 6-0.

This spurred on the home side, and it was soon 10-0 when Crarey timed his pass to perfection for Owen Bridle to go in for an unconverted try.

Crarey tried an attempted drop goal which came back into play off a post.

Cuthbert’s were looking strong with centre Adam Hunt always a threat in attack, and when stand-off Oliver Lynn put in a dangerous kick, Dalton were forced to drop out from under their posts.

A chance went begging for the visitors with Jacob Hunt losing the ball close to the line.

The home side increased their lead when Crarey stabbed the ball over the line for Bird to swoop and score 14-0.

Crarey then slipped a neat ball to Jordan Jones who crashed over, Kelly adding the goal 20-0.

Cuthbert’s were down to 12 men with winger Sam Fairhurst in the bin following a skirmish.

Minutes into the second half Adam Hunt went in at the corner for a neat try 20-4.

However, their joy was short lived when Crarey dummied his way over for Kelly to convert 26-4.

Hunt added a second prior to Bird completing his hat-trick to close the game.

Dalton now meet Westhoughton in the final.

Hindpool saw off the challenge of Newton Storms with a 34-12 victory.

The visitors were first to strike with an unconverted try only for the Tigers to hit back when a well-timed pass from Jack Osman sent Connor McDermott in for the first of three tries, Ryan Kyte converting.

From the restart, Jack Stevens and Tom Heighton made good yards for McDermott to power his way over the line, Kyte adding the goal.

The Storms were let down ten yards from the home line, losing possession and sweeping the ball up to race 90 yards to complete his hat-trick was McDermott, Kyte tagging on the goal.

Unfortunately, McDermott pulled a hamstring and his season is over.

Then in a fine team try, Rickleton, Burns and Boyd swept upfield, parting to Cameron McDermott who sent Boyd in for a try, Kyte converting.

The Storm went in for an early second-half try only for the Tigers to respond with Rickleton taking two defenders over the line.

The Storm came back with a converted try prior to Grant Burns rounding off the scoring with a try converted by Kyte.

Hindpool now face Widnes West Bank.

Both Dalton and Hindpool make the trip to Thatto Heath for the play-off finals.

A penalty goal in extra-time on the final whistle saw Askam go down 24-22 against Distington “A” at Fallowfield Park.

The scores were level 16-16 at full-time with tries from Luke Bolton, Rob Cockayne and Jordan Hopkins with two goals from Lewis Stables.

Distington went ahead 22-16 early in extra-time and with six minutes into this period, Dale Lambton crossed for a try with a touchline conversion from Stables making it 22-22 only for that last goal ending their hopes of victory.
