BARROW AFC head coach Stephen Clemence says it’s up to the players to keep bringing the gameplans to life.
Clemence says he and the Bluebirds backroom team try to give the squad the best plans to bring results.
However, he says even with the best laid plans once the game starts it down to the players to step up.
He told The Mail: “You can point out to the players where you think there will be an opportunity to get space maybe, or give them ideas on the training pitch.
“And then you can give them ideas of what to expect from a defensive point of view and what we are going to have to do to keep the opponent at bay.
“But once the boys cross over that white line, they’ve got to bring it all to life.
“Sometimes you can prepare for a certain shape or a certain way that you think the opponent is going to play, and they play something different.
“So, when that happens you have to be adaptable, and up until now the players have done that really, really well.”
Before it gets to that stage, Clemence and his team aim to make sure certain things are in place.
He added: “What I do try to do is make sure that we have certain principles that we have to try to put in place during the game, and if we do that then up to now it’s worked out OK.
“So, we work on certain things that we try to do every game whatever shape we are playing against, and like I say if we get those right, we tend to do OK from an attacking point of view.”
Clemence hasn’t been surprised by the talent at his disposal and says his faith in his team means he doesn’t have too many worries ahead of kick-off.
He said: “I’m very fortunate that I have got a lot of very good players in my squad.
“And I know that when I go to sleep on a Friday night, that these boys are going to turn up and give the opponent a very good game.
“That’s a good place to be in as a head coach.
“They boys have been fantastic to this point and now they have to make sure they keep it going.
“That’s the challenge they are face with now.
“It’s been a good start, and we are happy with that, but it doesn’t count for anything if we don’t keep it up or don’t build on it.
“There’s a hunger and desire in this squad to do that, so long may it continue.”
