BARROW AFC head coach Stephen Clemence is looking for his side to build on their good home form.

He told The Mail: “I’m really looking forward to the home game. I know it will be another tough game.

“Newport have had a couple of results not go their way in the league, but they are a very good team from what I can see.

“But like I say we are at home, and we are four unbeaten in the league (at Holker Street), so we are looking forward to getting in front of our supporters.

“For any team to have a successful campaign you need to do well on your home turf.

“The fans have been great and I’m sure they will be behind us again tomorrow, and it’s up to the players to give them something to cheer.”

Clemence believes tomorrow’s visitors, Newport County, will be up for the visit to Holker Street, looking to get their league form back on track.

County did enjoy a 1-0 EFL Trophy win over West Ham United in midweek, but lost their last two league games – 4-0 away to Swindon Town last weekend and 4-1 at home to Port Vale the previous game.

But Clemence says he isn’t looking too much at the opposition’s league standing or previous games.

He added: “I don’t look into it too much about how the opponent has been getting on results wise.

“I look at where there is going to be space for us against the shape we are going to be playing against.

“And I look at where is the danger that might come our way from the opponent.

“They are the sought of things I look at.

“Look we’ve seen it many times, teams going into games in good form and get beat, and teams come in not even had a shot at goal or got over the halfway line, and they can come away with a victory.

“We know that football is a funny old game and what we do need to know is what we can take care off in terms of our own performance.”
