BARROW Raiders head coach Paul Crarey is calling on the sporting fraternity to get to Craven Park tomorrow to help his team pick up two vital points in their quest for survival in the Championship (kick-off 3pm).

Barrow and Whitehaven have had many great tussles over the years, but tomorrow will be one of the most important clashes for many a decade.

Both teams are staring relegation in the face, with the losers deep in trouble with only two games remaining after this encounter.

Raiders are fourth off bottom on 17 points with Haven second-bottom on 16 points.

Two teams are relegated with third-bottom, come the end of season having to face League One play-off winners.

The winner of that game will play in the Championship next season.

Barrow should go into the game with an air of confidence following their second-half display against second in the table Toulouse last Saturday, when after trailing 22-0 at the break they won the second half 24-14.

Haven on the other hand have conceded 100 points in their last two games (York at home 40-0) with only a late converted try at Wakefield being their only reply (60-6).

Ryan Brown returns for Barrow after being on reserve duty for Wigan last week in their defeat at the hands of St Helens in a cup final

James Greenwood is also likely to return along with Shane Toal, while it will be a similar squad that took on Toulouse.

Crarey is expecting Haven to come down with all guns blazing as they seek to complete the double.

He said: “It is going to be one heck of a game, a game that both teams are desperate to win.

“It's going to be a real dog fight and should be an exciting game. Both teams will chance their arms and the one who gets the upper hand will win.

“We will go out there and express ourselves and play rugby, and it doesn't matter how hyped up the coaches get, it is all down to how the players perform.”

Haven have struggled to raise 17 players over their last few games, but they have stated they will have 17 players on duty for this clash.

One threat comes from Papua New Guinea international winger Edene Gebbie who crossed for their lone try at Wakefield last week.

At half-back Barrovian Jake Carter will partner Australian Lachlan Hannaghan while other Australian forwards are Owen McCarron, Lucas Castle and Ryan King.

Other back line players from down under are Joey Romeo and Will Evans with former Millom hooker and skipper James Newton a dangerous number nine.

It was quoted by former Coach Jonty Gorley pre-season that this Haven squad is the best for several years, however, they have not had it all their own way as their league position states.
