BARROW Raiders Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson felt her team finished better than they started in their 24-4 win against Huddersfield Giants.
Speaking to the club’s official Facebook page, she said: “It was definitely a game of two halves as they say.
“It was quite disappointing in the first half, I felt like we allowed ourselves to miss so many opportunities.
“Playing a team such as Huddersfield, who are pretty smart with the ball, and who can defend well, you’ve got take those opportunities when they come to you.”
Wilkinson said discussions were held about how to improve during the break, and she was pleased with how her side responded.
She added: “Our half-time talk was all about resetting for the second half, and playing as a team like we can.
“Second half they really did gel, and they displayed some really good rugby.
“You could feel the tension and passion from both teams in the first 10 minutes.
“Both teams wanted that position (fifth), and Huddersfield are like I say a good quality team, so they wanted it as much as we did.
“With the pressure of the game and everything on the game and finishing in a good position, I think it sort of got hold us a little bit in the first half, but once we got control in the second half and played with a little bit more composure and skill we looked like a different team.”
