BARROW AFC boss Stephen Clemence is hoping for a fitness boost ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Swindon Town.
The Bluebirds coach was forced to ring the changes for their EFL Trophy clash against Bolton Wanderers in midweek.
But he believes he may have one or two more players to call on for the League Two clash at Holker Street (kick-off 3pm).
He told The Mail: “We had eight players carrying injuries ahead of Tuesday’s game.
“We had a day off on Wednesday to give the players a chance to recover and then we were back in training yesterday.
“I’m hoping that once we assess the players we will have two or three back to face Swindon, but we will make a decision on that later.
“Whatever team we put out we know we will have to be at it to get a result, and that will be the same throughout the season.”
Barrow have made a good start to life under Clemence, but the head coach is looking for more, and he is pleased to say he isn’t alone in that.
He added: “It’s been a decent start, we’ve won five out of seven games so far, which is good because ultimately football is about results.
“So, it’s good that we have got some wins and some points on the board and there have been some things we’ve done well so far, and some that we need to get better at.
“And we will keep working hard to keep doing the good things and to keep improving where we need to.
“There good things is that there is a real hunger in the squad to keep pushing.
“We have a good mix of younger players and those with experience, but everyone wants to get better and to keep pushing themselves and that’s what you need if you are to have success.
“We’ve only just started and there is a long way to go and a lot of hard work ahead of us.
“I think one of the pleasing things is that as a group we all seem up for the challenge and prepared to put in the effort to get to where we want to be.
“We know that we can’t take our foot off the gas, and we know that there won’t be any easy games.
“So, I guess for now we need to keep pushing and keep improving and if we can do that see where it takes us.”
