BARROW Raiders star Ramon ‘Razor’ Silva says there’s ‘more to come’ from him after extending his stay with the club.

Silva has agreed a new two-year deal with the Cumbrians, which will keep him at the Northern Competitions Stadium until at least the end of the 2026 season.

Speaking about his new deal, the forward told the club’s official website: “I’m thrilled to be staying with the Raiders.

“It’s a club I’ve come to really value. Under Paul Crarey’s guidance I’ve developed so much as a player, and I know there’s more to come.

“One of the biggest reasons I’ve decided to stay was because of Cresta. He’s been instrumental in developing my rugby ability.

“The culture at the club, the support from the coaching staff and the bond with my team-mates also played a huge role. It was an easy decision for me to commit to the Raiders.

“I’m focused on continuing to develop my own game under Cresta’s guidance and being a leader, both on and off the pitch. If we keep working hard and stick together, there’s no telling what we can achieve in the future.”

The Sao Paulo-born forward is the third player in recent weeks to commit his long-term future to the Raiders, following on from hooker Josh Wood and outside back Matt Costello.

Having signed from Betfred Super League side Wigan Warriors in November, he has become a key member of the squad this season.

The 22-year-old has played 22 times in all competitions to date, with 21 of being starting roles.

Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey is pleased to get the deal done, and believes supporters will be equally pleased at the news.

He said: “Ramon has been tremendous for us all year. His strength in contact through his hips is phenomenal, and enables the team to get on the front foot.

“He also has a great attitude to training and a thirst to improve his own game and be the best he can be.

“He had many offers to go elsewhere but has chosen to stay here, where we will continue to help him improve. I’m sure the fans will be glad to see him stay, as he has become a firm favourite with them.”

Raiders director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “Ramon has come on leaps and bounds since arriving at the club, so we’re thrilled that he has committed to another two years.

“There’s still plenty of room for improvement with him, and we’re glad to be able to give him the opportunity to develop his game. We’re confident that he can take his next steps with us.”
