BARROW AFC new boy Charlie Weston is pleased to have joined the club’s B Team set-up.

Having featured as a trialist during the The Bluebirds pre-season programme, the midfielder has joined on a permanent deal until January.

Speaking to the club’s website about the move, Weston said: “It feels really good to be here, it’s a really good opportunity for me, obviously I’ve been training the lads since pre-season, so it was really ideal for me.

“It’s been really good so far. I only live five minutes away from the training ground, so it’s a really ideal situation for me, and I’ve really been enjoying training and being with the lads as they’re a good group of lads and I’ve really enjoyed myself.”

Barrow boss Stephen Clemence added: “Charlie’s been training with us since the start of pre-season and he’s a good young player, he’s technically good and gets around the pitch well.

“He did well for us in pre-season so there was an opportunity for him to sign for the B team and we’ve taken that, and he gives us another body in the building and a body that has the potential to get better and improve, and we’re hoping he can do that with us.”

Weston started his career in the youth setup at Everton, before joining Blackburn Rovers, where he spent the majority of his youth career as he progressed through the ranks at Ewood Park into the first team setup.

Last season, the midfielder was named in a number of matchday squads for Rovers, but didn’t make a first-team appearance.

He joined Kidderminster Harriers on loan in March 2024. He impressed during that loan spell and scored his first professional goal in a match away to Barnet.

Weston was released by Rovers at the end of last season, and since the start of pre-season has been training with The Bluebirds.
