BARROW Raiders head coach Paul Crarey was looking to the positives after his side’s 36-18 defeat away to Featherstone Rovers.

Crarey admitted that there was room for improvement, but was pleased with the fighting spirit his side showed.

He told the club’s official Facebook Page: “I thought we had a good dig. Sometimes we moved the ball and we were fluent, sometimes we moved the ball and we were sloppy.

“I thought we fought real hard and hung on in and I’m so proud of them.”

“There are a few areas where need to be better, but I can’t thank the lads enough for their endeavour and their tenacity and willingness to compete.

“I thought toward the back end of the game if Greenie (James Greenwood) scores at 24 point to 10 down then we are right back in the game.

“It looked as though he had grounded it, but he didn’t, and they went down the other end and scored, and went to 30 points instead of us getting within a score of them.

“And that’s the way it is.

“They are a quality side and big side. We lost two of our back rows Greenie and Stacky (skipper Jarrad Stack), who hardly ever go off and we had to put Greg Worthington second row and Ellis Gillam who had a fine second half there.”
