BARROW Raiders Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson said it job done by her side in the 28-16 victory over Featherstone Rovers.
She told the club’s official Facebook page: “We knew we had one job to do.
“We knew that we had to get the win, and we knew to do so we’d have to put on a good performance, and I felt the girls did that.
“I think defensively we were really strong and dominant, and didn’t give them a lot of possession.
“In attack, we stuck to our processes, and attacked with some good flair and skill, and got some points on the board which were needed.”
Raiders are currently fifth in the Women’s Super League table, while Rovers are rock bottom, having not won any of their games so far.
But Wilkinson said it was still a tough test, and added the pressure was on to make sure they didn’t become Featherstone’s first scalp of the campaign.
She added: “We knew coming here that it was all about preparing mentally for this game.
“There was a little bit of pressure because we knew we needed to come here and get the win, because we didn’t want to be the team that got turned over by them.
“We know it is always going to be a tough, tough game. They are a very physical side and tactically and technically they are very smart, with tough players.
“But we were smarter and tougher, so I was really pleased with the performance.”
