BARROW AFC must ‘keep their foot on the gas’ that’s the verdict of head coach Stephen Clemence.

The Bluebirds boss is pleased with how his side have started the season.

However, he is keen to stress it is just the start, and they have to keep going.

He told The Mail: “We can’t get complacent. Yes we’ve won four games out five, but we go into this next (away to Harrogate today) and we’ve got to make sure we are doing the same things that we have done well to get us to this point.

“We’ve got to carry that on, we can’t take our foot off the gas, so we’ve got to keep going.

“We have to keep trying to be on the front foot and get after teams to get the ball back, and then we get it we’ve got to make sure we are driving forward and putting Harrogate under some pressure.

“And the aim is to keep trying to do that one game at a time, try to take on the opponent and try to win football matches.”

That may prove easier said than done, and Clemence says he expects a tough away day at Wetherby Road.

He added: “I’ve said before, but every game at this level, and game in professional football, I think you’ve got to be fully at it if you are going to get a result and I expect that to be no different today.

“I think Harrogate did ever so well last year. Simon Weaver (Town boss) is probably the longest serving manager in the Football League.

“He’s done a good job at Harrogate, and he’ll have his team set up in an organised manner.

“I’ve got no doubt, and we will have to work hard to break them down.

“We’ll also have to be wary of what they are going to bring from an attacking sense as well.

“We’ve had a couple of days on the training ground since the win on Tuesday night, and we’ve have been working hard on how we beat Harrogate, but we know it will be a tough game.”
