BARROW Raiders head coach Paul Crarey has praised his side and the fans for their part in a vital win.

Crarey’s men claimed a dramatic 20-18 victory at home to Swinton Lions, which saw them climb to 10th in the Championship table

Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, he said: “It was massive for us in another must win game. I thought the crowd were brilliant and got right behind us.

“We had a chance at the end and took it and I can’t thank my players enough for getting us the win.”

Raiders had to come from behind with Lions leading for the majority of the second half.

But a Jarrad Stack try and Ryan Shaw conversion levelled matters at 18-18, before Shaw scored the penalty which gave the hosts a 20-18 victory.

Crarey added: “We were 18 points to 12 down for most of the second half, and every time we got some field position, we were just a bit scruffy, and panicked a little bit.

“But we got one opportunity, and I thick Stacky (skipper Jarrad Stack) scored for something like his 200th try or 250th try, something like that, I can’t remember what he said to me in the changing room.

“But I thought he was magnificent.

“This game was all about the two points and it (the win) puts us above Halifax (Panthers) in the table now.

“It puts a lot of teams under pressure. We don’t want to finish in that bottom two, and it (the win) gives us a chance to finish outside the bottom three.”
