BARROW Raiders head coach Paul Crarey is calling on the rugby league fraternity of the area to get down to Craven Park tomorrow for the visit of fellow relegation candidates Swinton Lions.
Crarey said: “I would like all rugby followers to be our 18th man tomorrow for such an important game with Swinton.
“Our fans have been great this season home and away, and the lads really appreciate their vocal support.
“We have averaged around 1,800 each home game, and it would be nice to see the attendance higher than our last home game with Bradford which was 2,400.
“Supporters out there who haven't been for some time would help the lads with their vocals as we aim to stay in the Championship.
“I believe we have given value for money in most of our home games.
“With finances tight at the club, a bit more cash through the turnstiles tomorrow and our four remaining home games with Toulouse - a Saturday game on September 5 - Whitehaven and Widnes would boost the coffers, and go a long way towards building a solid squad for next year.
“We have irons in the fire for next season, but it is important that we stay in this division, and with four out of our last six games at home revenue is vital as are the points.
“I want us to survive on merit and not on the back of Whitehaven being relegated if they can't sort out their problems.
“We definitely don't want them to go out of business at this late stage in the season.
“We have budgeted for revenue for this fixture, so we need them to survive. We have started to put plans in action for next year with Josh Wood signing on for another two years.
“Josh is happy at Barrow and doesn't want to go anywhere else. He is a great lad and a great player.”
Crarey delays naming his final 17 with some players carrying slight knocks.
Greg Worthington, who has missed the last three games, has been given the green light to return while Ramon Silver, Tom Walker and Ryan Johnston will know this morning if they are available.
Unlikely to play is James Greenwood who has a cracked sternum, while Max Clarke who took a knock in the win at Dewsbury has been cleared to play.
However, Crarey has been hit by the unavailability of Ryan Brown who has been recalled by parent club Wigan as they have a Reserve game this afternoon.
But on the plus side Leigh loanee Kavan Rothwell is back from injury.
Ruled out through HIA (Head Injury Assessment) is Salford loan player Jamie Pye.
Swinton, like Barrow will be going all out for victory they are third-bottom, a point behind Barrow and pulled off a fine 20-6 win over Halifax last week.
Ex-Barrow players Jake Spedding and Lewis Hall (Nee Charnock) and Jordan Gibson are the Lions threatening players, along with winger Rhys Williams.
Spedding and Gibson are to leave the Lions next season.
Speaking about the game, Crarey added: “It could all come down to discipline and unforced errors.
“Last week we had eight unforced errors, players trying to push the pass, instead of taking the tackle. You can’t afford too many of those.”
