BARROW AFC forward Ged Garner is targeting a successful cup run this season.
The Bluebirds are at home to Port Vale tonight in the Carabao Cup.
Garner is aware the Valiants pose a tough challenge, but it is one he is definitely up for.
He told the club’s YouTube channel: “We’re definitely expecting a tough game. I saw they had a great result at the weekend.
“They are expected to be up there this season, so another tough test, and another chance to test ourselves.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
The Barrow striker is hoping that they can go on a run in the cup and maybe take on some of the big boys.
“Everyone loves a cup game,” he added. “You can play some really big sides, and if we get through (against Vale) then Premier League teams could come in (to the draw).
“For players and teams in League Two you don’t really get the chance to play against those teams so much, so yeah, it’s a big game for us.
“And we want to kick from last year when we didn’t do to well in the competition.”
Having beaten Crewe Alexandra in the season opener at Holker Street at the weekend, Garner is looking forward to another home clash this evening.
And he says getting more homes under their belt could help the side.
He said: “It’s good to have games at home so we can get back to it and try to make it a fortress.”
