BARROW Raiders Tom Wilkinson was pleased to become a centurion at the weekend.

The forward made his 100th career appearance, but he was disappointed with the result as Paul Crarey’s men went down 38-12 away to Halifax Panthers.

Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel after the game, he said: “It’s good to get to the hundred mark, shame about today (the defeat to Panthers)”

“The send off (Delaine Gittens-Bedward was sent off while on the bench following a scuffle) and the heat got to the lads I think, but great effort.”

Asked if the high temperature were tough going, Wilkinson admitted it certainly had an impact.

“It is (tough) when we are not used to it, especially in Barrow the weather’s never the best,” he said.

Wilkinson had taken some time out to go back to the amateur game before joining Raiders.

And now he is looking to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.

He said: “It’s just about holding my position in the team now. I’d like to play longer minutes, but it’s just getting what I can now.”

Next up for Raiders is a massive game against bottom-placed Dewsbury Rams on Sunday.
