BARROW Raiders Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson was pleased with her side’s 32-14 victory over Warrington Wolves.

Wilkinson said the Women’s Super League clash was always easy on the eye.

Speaking to the club’s official Facebook page, she said: “It was ugly at times, and we know that we need to tidy that up.

“We went into this game knowing we needed the win, and had the want for the win as well.

“Before the game, we spoke about every player needing to be accountable.

“They had to know their role, and they needed to go in with the want and desire for the win, and we needed to perform.

“There were parts of the game where we were poor. Poor discipline, some poor defence, poor decisions and we didn’t play smart, and they punished us.

“They (Wolves) are a smart team. They know how to play rugby and they know how to move the ball around the park, and we can’t afford to have them spells in a game where we just let teams get the better of us by giving them cheap possession.”

However, while it may not have been a vintage Raiders performance it was a much-needed win for Wilkinson’s squad.

And she admitted she was pleased for her side.

She added: “Getting back to the positives from the game, I’m absolutely buzzing for the girls.

“They have worked so hard this season. We knew it was going to be a big step up, and we’ve played those top teams and really put on a great performance.

“I really felt we should win (against Wolves) and we did, so like I says just really, really pleased for the girls.”
