Barrow AFC have made their seventh signing of the summer by bringing in left-back Ben Jackson.

Arriving from Huddersfield Town, Jackson has committed himself to a three-year deal with the Blues for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old brings with him a wealth of experience at the Championship level, having made 45 appearances in England’s second tier - 27 of which came last season.

After the news of his arrival was made official, Jackson said: "I’m really excited, I think it’s a really good opportunity to come here, play some games, show a lot of people wrong, and really start enjoying my football again.

“Once I heard about the interest, I was quite intrigued myself, and I saw it as a good opportunity to come and play football in a team where the ambition is the get promoted and be in and around the playoffs.”

The Stockport-born defender is no stranger to League Two after a brief loan spell at Bolton Wanderers under former Barrow Boss, Ian Evatt, where he bagged one goal in five matches.

His time at Bolton ultimately ended with silverware as he helped Wanderers achieve promotion back up to England’s third tier, and he will be hoping to repeat the trick with his new club as the fresh season approaches.

Jackson added: "It's not just to be a team sat in the middle of the table, I think that was really appealing to me from the initial conversations that I had.

"We want to play some good football, attacking football, be on the front foot, score goals, take the game to other teams, as opposed to sitting back and absorbing pressure."

Barrow's latest signing came through the ranks at Huddersfield but spent many of his early years going out on loans to sides ranging from the National League to League One.
