DEFENDER James Chester has joined Salford City on a one-year deal.
The former Wales international made 38 appearances for the Bluebirds last term as they narrowly missed out on a play-off place.
Chester previously had spells with clubs including Hull City, Aston Villa and Stoke City before joining Barrow last season.
New Barrow AFC head coach Stephen Clemence had worked with Chester at both Villa and Derby and said after taking the job that the 35-year-old would be one of the first people he spoke to.
However, it would appear that Barrow and the player could not reach an agreement and he decided his future lay elsewhere.
"I think to have played for, and to represent the clubs that I have done, and to have had the career that I have, I find myself very fortunate and very proud it is continuing," he said.
"I still have a desire to play and win, so hopefully the supporters will see that from me."
