BARROW Raiders Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson says her side can’t and won’t just accept defeat.
The Raiders lost heavily at the weekend – going down 44-0 away to York Valkyries.
Wilkinson insists there were still positives to take from the encounter, but says her side must just accept losing to good sides.
She told the club’s official Facebook page: “Nobody wants to be nilled in a game, and we definitely need to not be just looking at it and saying we gave everything, because they did.
“If you had to look at the girls’ performance, other than the errors York weren’t scoring.
“I though our defence was really good against what is a really strong York side.
“But we can’t let our standards drop and start accepting that York are a great team and they’ve put 40 points on us, and it’s OK, because it’s not.
“We need to start putting some points on the board in terms of scoring some tries, but we just need to cut the errors down.
“We did everything right, but just far too many errors, and every time we made an error, they scored on the back of it.
“You know I think there was two or three penalties and they marched up the pitch.
“The effort in defence was really good, I was very impressed with contact and the wrestle and the dominance in defence, but there is only so much defence you can do in a game without becoming tired and them breaking you down.”
