BARROW AFC head coach Stephen Clemence is pleased that Rory Feely and Sam Foley are back at the club for another season.

Both were named among the 10 players that the Bluebirds had listed as released at the end of the 2023/24 season.

But now Feely and Foley are back at Holker Street having penned new one-year deals.

And Clemence told BBC Radio Cumbria that he’s happy to have them at his disposal.

He said: “Look I’ve watched a lot of the games from last season, and obviously when I was at Gillingham we played Barrow twice, so I know what generally the players can bring here.

“There was an option that we could bring them back, and I also feel that sometimes you can have too much change inside a football club.

“Now the team wasn’t that far away last year, and there’s a lot of good work been done, and it’s for me to add to that.

“I spoke to them both on the telephone. I thought they were both good lads, they’ve been giving me the right messages, which I wanted to hear and obviously now I’m looking forward to working with them both.

“Foles (Foley) in midfield is an experienced boy and he can still help the young midfield players we have got at the football club.

“I think they can both play in different positions, so it’s always good to have that utility in the squad as well.”
