BARROW Raiders head coach Paul Crarey says his side need to get the small things right to make sure they compete.
Crarey saw his side well beaten 36-0 at home by a rampant Wakefield Trinity side at the weekend.
And he says in the coming fixtures they must get back to making sure they stick to the process.
Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “We’ve got a tough month ahead where we have to build on performances and structure and principles.
“I think even when you get beat you can throw your principles in there, be efficient get to the back end of the sets and be hard to beat.
“You only have to look at the Batley score (24-16 away win). They’ve gone to Widnes and pulled off a fantastic result.
“They go there to grind and the stuck to the processes, so we’ve got to do that.
“It was a great win at Swinton (24-10) when we did that last week, and then we think we’ve got to play different this week to beat Wakefield.
“You don’t you’ve just got to be efficient and do all the little things right and we didn’t do that.”
Losing out to the league leaders, who have won all 13 of the Championship games so far this term, wasn’t something Crarey had an issue with.
However, he did feel his side were lacking when it came to the way they played the game.
He added: “I thought they were great tenacious efficient, kicked the ball well I don’t think we did any of them things.
“I thought we pushed the ball a little bit, play one from the scrum the ball’s in touch, balls on the floor when we are trying to move it with shape and not finding anyone, so I was disappointed with all of that, not with the result.
“Nobody has beat them and nobody should beat them with the quality they have got on the field, but you’ve got to look at them and what they do well.
“They are efficient they have got players in motion, Gayle injects pace every time he wants the ball, and we have got to do that.
“I thought the first half was probably low quality from both sides. I think they were at 59 per cent and I think we had 60 to 61 something like that so there were a lot of incomplete sets, but they were clinical.
“They had three opportunities to score and scored three tries, one just before half-time when we had quite a little bit of possession off their goalline and didn’t finish the set really.
“I spoke at half-time about it being a low quality in terms of completions and if we could get a foothold in the game and put some points on, if we were more clinical, patient and direct we’ve got a chance, and they scored first in the second half to go 20 points up so then it was a mountain to climb.
“So I’m disappointed in all the little things you have to do to even compete with these teams, and we didn’t do it.
“But it’s good that we are disappointed even when we are playing a mega team that will be playing Super League next year.”
