GOALKEEPER Josh Lillis will leave Barrow AFC after he and the club couldn’t agree a new contract.

The Bluebirds were thought to be looking to get Lillis to switch solely to coaching duties, having operated as both as play/coach previously.

Lillis signed for Barrow back in 2020 after they were promoted to the Football League, and was the Cumbrians backup keeper and goalkeeping coach for three seasons.

His 15 appearances for the Bluebirds were largely restricted to cup matches.

A statement on the Barrow AFC website, said: “The club would like to place on record a huge level of gratitude for all of Josh’s efforts while at the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Meanwhile, Barrow have been drawn at home to Port Vale in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Round One ties will take place on the week commencing August 12, and the club say they will announce ticket details in due course.
