BARROW AFC will be hoping to make the most of home comforts when the 2024/25 League Two season gets underway in just over a month’s time.

The EFL released the fixtures for the new campaign, revealing that the Bluebirds first game will be played at home.

Stephen Clemence’s side entertain Crewe Alexandra at Holker Street on Saturday, August 10.

The opening month looks set to provide Clemence’s tenure with a tough start - as well as kicking off against an Alexandra team who finished in the play-off spots last term, they face two newly relegated teams in Carlisle United and Port Vale.

The Valiants will make their way to Cumbria on Saturday, August 24, while Barrow will have made the short trip to face United on Saturday, August 17.

The Bluebirds round off August with an away game against Harrogate Town on Saturday, August 31.

Clemence’s men face the third of the relegated sides at Holker Street on Saturday, October 5.

Barrow will round of the regular League Two season with a long away trip to take on Colchester United on May 3, 2025.

The head coach, sporting director Iain Wood and the club’s recruitment team are continuing to work hard behind the scenes to try to strengthen the squad.

The club have already brought in Goalkeeper Wyll Stanway, defender Sam Barnes following the end of his time at Blackburn Rovers.

They have also side wide man Connor Mahoney, who played under Clemence on loan at Gillingham last season, after his contract at Huddersfield Town came to an end.

Katia Kouyate, who came through the youth ranks, is another summer addition to the squad.

And current defender Rory Feely signed back on with the club, despite having been announced among the 10 players to be released at the end of their contract.

Speaking after his appointment Clemence didn’t foresee a radical squad overhaul during the close season, instead preferring to add to the quality he already had at his disposal.

One the players he was keen to get tied down was defender James Chester, who he knew from his time at Aston Villa and Derby County.

However, it doesn’t appear that any has been agreed between the two parties at the time of going to print.
