BARROW Raiders have welcomed back Greg Worthington ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Halifax Panthers.

Worthington joins Raiders for a second time having agreed a deal until the end of the season.

The former Featherstone Rovers and Halifax man made 22 appearances and scored once for Raiders during the 2023 campaign.

He left the at the end of the season, but has decided to return to bolster the Raiders ranks during the months ahead.

The 33-year-old featured in a number of positions last year, starting the season as a centre before moving to loose forward midway through the campaign and ending it playing in the front row.

Worthington is available for tomorrow’s Championship clash against Halifax, and could make his second debut for the Raiders at the Northern Competitions Stadium.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Worthington said he was always ready to answer the call to help Raiders.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the field for the club,” he said.

“I told Cresta (head coach Paul Crarey) that if he needed to bolster the squad at any point this season and I could help out, then I would.

“The club were brilliant with me last year, and if I can help in any way possible for the rest of the season then I’m all for it.”

Barrow Raiders director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “It is fantastic to be able to welcome Greg back into the mix ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

“Greg is a consummate professional who promised to help us out if we ever needed it. He boasts plenty of experience at this level and will give the group a real lift as we head into the second half of the season.”
