BARROW Raiders Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson says they know how hard tomorrow’s clash away to Leeds Rhinos will be.
The two sides have never met, but Wilkinson admits they have taken a look at what Rhinos are all about.
She said: “We’ve never played Leeds before so it’s one we don’t know.
“But we do know that it is going to be tough. We have looked at footage of them and they have a couple of games on TV for us to watch.
“So we’ve watched them play and we know we are going to get a tough game.
“They are a really developed team with a lot of internationals in there, but the girls are just used to that now.
“It’s no different to the last game. Every game at this level is a challenge, and we just know we have got to be at our best.
“I think one difference with this game for me is that if we are not at our best at Leeds we will get punished.
“What we have talked about is that we are going to have to be at our best, we are going to have to make sure that we don’t make errors or give anything away because they will punish us for it.
“They are too good a team to be able to give them anything extra and get away with it.
“But having said that the girls are really up for it and enjoying going and taking on another challenge against a team that they have not come up against before, while they have been in Super League One , or two or the in the Challenge Cup.”
Wilkinson is hoping to be able to call on a similar squad to the one that registered their first Super League win last weekend - as they beat Featherstone Rovers 22-10.
She said: “We had a lot of injuries at the start of the season, and that has meant we haven’t fielded the same team in our previous games.
“We’ve had key players who have been out injured and that has thrown things around a bit.
“Last week against Featherstone we had every one back, although a couple of them were carrying knocks.
“But hopefully we will go into this game with another strong squad.”
The victory over Rovers has strengthened the Barrow resolve.
Wilkinson added: “There’s always been that belief but after the win and with every game the girls are growing more and believing more that they can deliver at this level.”
