BOOKMAKERS have priced up the markets on who they believe is likely to become Barrow AFC's next permanent manager.

It comes following the shock departure of Pete Wild last week.

Parimatch Sports Bet & Casino currently have the former England and ex-Everton left-back Leighton Baines as the marginal 6/4 favourite to succeed Wild next season.

Baines has experience as Head Coach and Professional Development Coach of the Everton U-18 side, and like many of his former England teammates, is looking to make the step up into the first team management scene for the first time.

Gary Bowyer is priced second in the betting at 3/1.

Unlike Baines, the 52-year-old has a plethora of managerial experience having steered Blackburn in to both a 9th and 15th position in his two seasons at the club in the Championship.

Bowyer also has promotions on his CV lower down the football pyramid after successfully guiding Blackpool back to Sky Bet League One at the first time of asking in the 2016-17 season.

He also most recently led Dundee back to the Scottish Premiership having sealed the Scottish Championship in the 2022-23 season.

Other contenders to take the Barrow AFC hot seat include the current Bluebirds Assistant Manager Adam Temple at 4/1 and Coach Harry Watling at 6/1.

Further down the betting are Dean Holder, Kevin Phillips, Leam Richardson and Phil Parkinson all priced at 12/1.

Ex England stars Steve Bruce, Paul Ince and Mark Hughes are all 33/1, whilst Simon Grayson and Paul Heckingbottom are priced at 25/1.
