BARROW Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said his side have shown what they are capable of in their win over Featherstone Rovers.

Crarey praised his players after they came away with a 25-12 victory over a Rovers side who are fourth in the Championship table.

Speaking to the club’s official Facebook page, he said: “From minute one to minute 80 we were on it.

“A couple of errors in the first half gifted them field position and they got a couple of tries, but from then on, I thought we were dominant throughout the game.

“I thought we box kicked well, we were patient in attack, and we took our chances.

“Every loose ball we were on it. Kick, chase Broady (Luke Broadbent) was on that as well, and I thought we deserved our victory.”

While Crarey thought every member of the squad deserved credit for the display, he was quick to heap praise on the club skipper after his return from his trip back home to due to family issues.

He added: “A special mention must go to Jarrad Stack who has had a lot of adversity in this last month or so and he left the field before he went back to Australia with a fantastic performance, and he came back (on Sunday) with a magnificent performance as a captain.

“Ryan Johnston kicked three goals of the touchline, and just think from one to 18, all of the squad that were here on the day gave everything and we were very much together.”

Crarey says the performance and the victory is something Raiders need to build on.

He said: “We’ve set a benchmark of what we can do as a group.

“This division is tough. You look at the results (at the weekend) and you can see it is tough.

“You won’t win every week but what you can do every week is compete.

“With it being heritage day and all the superstars that have been part of the club being here, I said to these (the players) this is our time.

“Let’s show everyone in the ground what we are capable of as a group, and we did that.

“I can’t praise the lads enough. We worked so hard in training in all the rain and the lads really put the effort in.

“So now we’ve set our benchmark. It’s Bradford Bulls next week and we’ve got to roll our sleeves up, because it gets tough there on the back of a loss (Bull lost at the weekend)

“There’s nothing like a wounded animal and we’ve got to deal with a wounded animal, because I’m sure they will come back real strong.”
