BARROW Island’s young side put up a brave show away to undefeated leaders Shaw Cross going down 34-10 after trailing 24-10 at the break.
Dan White crossed for a brace of tries with a conversion from Sam Jones.
Shaw Cross lead the Second Division of the Conference with seven wins from seven in the league.
This weekend, Island are on the road once more with a visit to Thornhill Trojans in the North West Men’s league's Second Division.
Roose Pioneers lost 46-22 at Mayfield “A”. Tries came from Glen Phillips (2), Alfie Coxon and Ollie Dilkes with Matty Roberts adding three goals.
Ulverston were victors over Chorley Borough at Dragley Beck running in 28 points with 22 in reply.
Tries came via Matt Dean, Jai Smoothy plus a hat-trick from Jack Aiken. Smoothy also added three conversions and a penalty goal.
Dalton's home fixture with Golborne Parkside was called off due to a lack of players from the Warrington club.
