BARROW AFC manager Pete Wild wants his side to make the most of their home advantage.
The Bluebirds play host to a Colchester United side battling for Football League survival at Holker Street today.
And while Wild has acknowledged that the U’s will be fighting tooth and nail, he wants his players to focus on just how good they’ve been on home turf this season.
Before today’s clash, AFC have played 16 league games on home turf this season and have lost just twice, winning eight and drawing six.
Wild is delighted with how well the Bluebirds have performed at Holker Street for much of the campaign.
He was particularly pleased with their display at home to Gillingham in midweek – claiming a 2-0 win.
And now he is calling on them to build on that when the U’s come to town.
He said: “We have use to that (AFC’s home form) as our fuel.
“Over the season we know how well we’ve done at home, and we know how strong we’ve been at home, and it’s really important we use that to drive us into this game.
“We have spoken to the lads about how good we have been at home, and we have spoken about what we need to do to continue that.
“We know how well we play on our pitch and how well we can do on our pitch, so we need to use that, and we need to keep being the best version of ourselves that we can be.”
