BARROW AFC midfielder Robbie Gotts says they can’t afford to dwell on Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at home to Crewe Alexandra.
The loss was a big disappointment for the Bluebirds as it ended their 12-game unbeaten run on home turf.
But rather than dwell on that, Gotts says Barrow must now look ahead.
He told the club’s official Facebook page: “Obviously it is disappointing, but I think all we can do is put that behind us and move on to the next game.
“We’ve got to put that game behind us now and move on to Notts County, which I am sure will be a very good game between two really good sides.”
Holker Street had been the proverbial fortress for Pete Wild’s men until Crewe brought that to an end on Saturday.
And Gotts says that having gone unbeaten from the start of the campaign until last weekend, is something for the whole squad to reflect on positively.
He added: “I think it (the run) is something we need to look back and be proud of.
“The run that we have been on at home is really good for the club, and we need to just keep on building and get back the momentum that we did have.
“I don’t think we need to look too deeply into this loss. We need to look at the run we’ve been on as good thing, and look into where we went wrong and look at it (this weekend) as a chance to bounce back.”
Gotts believes the Barrow squad will keep their focus on what lies ahead rather than what has gone.
He said: “We have to keep that mindset of never getting to high and never getting too low, and I think if we stick to that we will be fine.
“You can’t really tell if we have won or lost (at the weekend) when we come in to training on Monday.
“I think the motto we have gone with all season is ‘if you can’t win don’t lose’ and I think we need to continue with that (mindset).
Gotts grabbed his first goal of the season at the weekend, and while he would have preferred his ninth-minute opener to have been the winning strike, he was still pleased to get off the mark.
“Really pleased (at scoring),” he said. “You obviously wish it was the only goal in the game, but it was a proud moment for me and hopefully I can get many more.
“It’s (the move for the goal) stuff that we work on in training, knowing where to be and stuff like that so it was good that it came off.”
