DAVID Worrall will miss Saturday’s game away to Sutton United as he continues to recover from a head injury.
But there is some good news with Luca Stephenson back in contention for the clash.
Both Worrall and Stephenson were injured in separate incidents during the 4-1 defeat to Wrexham on New Year’s Day.
Worrall was taken to hospital following his clash of heads, while his replacement Stephenson also suffered a clash of heads in the encounter and had to be withdrawn, although he did not need hospital treatment.
Both players missed the 1-0 win over Tranmere Rovers due to concussion protocols.
And Worrall will miss out again on Saturday as his rehabilitation is managed in line with those rules.
Speaking about the duo, manager Pete Wild said: “Luca has been cleared to play, and is back in amongst the group.
“Dave Worrall is still on non-contact and will remain on non-contact until the end of this week.
“Going into next week he will be available to play again.”
It remains to be seen whether Stephenson is handed a starting role against Sutton, although Wild may choose to ease him back in and start him on the bench.
It’s another key decision for the Bluebirds boss. He added: “As with every game it is about picking the right team for the challenges that game poses and the Sutton game will be no different.
“We always say to the players that if they are selected then it is a chance for them to show what they can offer, and it is up to them to make the most of the opportunity.
“They know if they don’t take that opportunity then there are others waiting to take their chance.
“We are very honest with the players when we sign them about what we want to do and how we will be looking to pick a team based on the game and opposition we are playing.
“I think that is the best way to approach things, be honest with the players and then they know where they stand.
“Thankfully, they are buying into what we are trying to and when they are getting their chance they are taking it. So, long may it continue.
“I think you look to recruitment and the characters we have brought in to see why it is working. They know what is being asked of them and they are delivering, and I’m really pleased with how they are doing.”
