BARROW AFC won’t allow Monday’s defeat to Wrexham define their season.
The Bluebirds suffered a 4-1 loss down in Wales in New Year’s Day, but all focus is now on today’s home game against Tranmere Rovers.
Before the Wrexham clash, Wild’s men had gone an unbeaten 14-game run.
And he isn’t about to let all of that good work be overshadowed by one result.
He said: ““We have been so good we’ve had 14 games unbeaten, 21 out of 25 have been positive results.
“There’s so much that has been positive. Wrexham away is not going to define our season.
“We’ve been talking to the players and said let’s reflect on how well we’ve done.
“What are the massive positives? And look at what we now need to do as we move into the new year.”
As with any game, win, lose or draw the match against Wrexham has been analysed, but Wild was quick to point out that there was no inquest after the final whistle.
“There was no sort of knee jerk reaction,” he explained. “There was no sort of negative spin after the game on Monday.
“I actually went in (to the changing room) and praised them and said they’d been unbelievable, and I thought they’d been brilliant.
“I said to them that they just needed to reshape and refocus. And now we go again today.”
Having endured a hectic Christmas period a sense of normality is starting to return.
Wild feels the Wrexham clash was just a game too far for his men, but has no doubt they will be looking to bounce back against Rovers.
“I think the schedule over Christmas is one of the worst I’ve seen, and I think that showed in the end for us,” he said.
“I think if you have your last game at home in that sort of five-game period then you have a chance, but going away to what is probably the toughest ground in the league and being able to pull it off is a very tough ask and we found that out on Monday.
“But we have got a lot of good lads in the squad and a lot of experienced lads.
“We are all pulling together and we are now refocused on the next challenge which is Tranmere.”
