BE Barrow – that’s the message from manager Pete Wild to his players ahead of tonight’s League Two clash away to Crewe Alexandra.
The hosts sit just three points behind the Bluebirds in the league table, and while Wild knows it is another difficult away day for his side, he wants them to stick to their plan.
He explained: “We’ve got to be us. We’ve got to be the best version of us, while being respectful of what Crewe throw at us.
“In terms of our in possession plan it is very much being Barrow, and being good when we’ve got the ball.
“We need to try to make sure we have long spells of possession when we are away from home to sort of dampen their enthusiasm.”
Tonight’s clash at the Mornflake Stadium is yet another away day for the Bluebirds, and while they have a plan for games on the road, Wild says they still want to stick to their plan when they are on the ball.
“We are going into our 13th away game of the season,” He said.
“How many away games we have had is madness really for this time of the season.
“In all of those games it’s very much about making sure that we are solid and that we are hard to beat.
“Because we are the away team, we know the home team is going to come and try to break us down, and when they try to do that it’s about us trying to be the best version of Barrow when we are on the football.
Whatever the gameplan home or away it certainly appears to be working.
A total of 11 league wins and seven draws sees the Bluebirds sitting second in the League Two table.
Many have lauded Wild, winner of the League Two Manager of The Month for November, for helping the Cumbrians to such a lofty position at this stage of the season.
But he was quick to pay tribute to others for where they currently find themselves.
He said: “Full credit to the staff and the players. The staff for the plans we come up with to beat opposition and the players for going and implementing that.
“I am really pleased with how they are doing.
“As a coach or as a manager you are only as good as your players, and our players are really receptive of what we are asking them to do.
“They really understand the need to deliver when it is their turn to deliver.
“I couldn’t be more proud of what they are delivering at the moment.
“There’s a long way to go at the moment, but we are nearly at the halfway point now, and what they have turned out and what they have delivered I couldn’t be prouder of them.”
