COLCHESTER United's 'really exciting' centre-forwards have been highlighted as threats by Barrow boss Pete Wild.
Despite sitting 17th in the League Two table, Matty Etherington's Us boast a host of emerging prospects, including forward duo Samson Tovide and on-loan Luton striker Joe Taylor.
Tovide impressed for Colchester in the latter stages of the 2022/23 season, and in turn was rewarded with a new contract and handed the number nine shirt for the current campaign, whilst on-loan teammate Taylor made a short appearance in extra-time for Rob Edwards' Hatters at Wembley as they defeated Coventry City and booked their place in the Premier League.
The 19 and 21-year-olds have scored 13 goals between them this campaign and ahead of the Bluebirds meeting with Colchester at the Jobserve Community Stadium, Wild explained how he believes they are key to the Us recent upturn in form.
He said: "They have also got some really exciting players, especially the two centre-forwards, really exciting players who it looks like the team are linking with better and getting the two young forwards on the ball."
Wild also listed the key members of Matty Etherington's squad who he believes his Bluebirds will have to contain if they hope to get a result.
This includes Colchester's versatile 20-year-old Jayden Fevrier, who since being recruited after his release from West Ham's academy in July 2022 has gone on to become an established Us player.
He said: "The right-wing back Fevrier is very good, the two young centre-forwards I think are excellent and then you have got Noah Chivers in behind them who certainly drives them forward and carriers them forward really well."
