BARROW boss Pete Wild praised his side’s fighting spirit after a dramatic 2-2 draw at MK Dons.
The Bluebirds were 2-0 behind heading into stoppage time after Max Dean’s first-half double. But Ben Whitfield came off the bench to halve the deficit in the third minute of added time before Emile Acquah’s stunning 95th-minute strike stole a share of the spoils at Stadium MK.
The Bluebirds have gone three league games without a win and only have one victory from their last six. But the manner of this late, late draw will no doubt spark confidence into the group.
And Wild, who was yellow carded, said: “I honestly think that’s the least we deserved with our passages of play. To get those two goals at the end shows our fighting spirit, our never-say-die attitude and that we can come back in games.
“How many times this year have we come from behind to get a point or to get three points?
“You’ve got to keep going and you’ve got to have that belief that you can get something out of the game.
“The boys passed the football like they had belief, but we didn’t hurt them enough in the game.
“To score those two late goals were brilliant and I’m really pleased for them because that’s the least they deserved.
“Unfortunately the referee doesn’t see the clear handball for their first goal and that puts you on the back foot.
“I end up getting yellow carded because I’m frustrated. But he’s got to see things like that and that gives them a leg up after we’ve started the game well.”
The Bluebirds dominated possession, but found themselves two goals down after being caught on the counter attack.
And Wild once again hammered home about his side’s lack of ruthlessness costing them.
“Over the last few weeks we’ve been talking about dominating the football and not just sitting in and we’ve dominated the football really well, but we’ve still got work to do in both boxes,” added Wild.
“The second one is a really poor goal, we’re on top and they break and score and then you’re behind the eight ball a little bit.
“There were some really good passages of play. We’ve lived in their half second half, they had some counters at times, but we’ve lived in their half.
“I think it was another one of those where I was really pleased with how the game went.
“But, I said to the players that this game would be won in both boxes and it was. We weren’t good enough up until the 92nd minute in their box and we didn’t really threaten them. We had loads of play, but didn’t really threaten them and in our box we gave them two cheap goals.”
