THIS weekend the UK's biggest open-water swim returns to Windermere.
The Arla Great North Swim will take place between June 9-11.
There will be swim250, half mile, one mile, two miles, 5km and 10km swims for people to participate in at Brockhole throughout the weekend.
The swim250 is for beginners, the 10km swim is the official Olympic distance, and the two-mile swim is deemed the best option for open water swimmers wanting a decent challenge.
The swims will be from 1pm to 4.45pm on Friday, 9.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday, and 8am to 12.30pm on Sunday.
On Saturday there will be a swimrun event including short (12.6km), medium (23.9km), and long-distance (38.8km) categories. All of these involve at least a swim across Windermere from Brockhole to Low Wray.
Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi, a GP who is a regular contributor to Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch, will be taking parking in the 5km swim.
