THE 112-mile Fred Whitton Challenge will soon be underway.
The annual challenge involves cyclists crossing the Lake District fells. It starts and ends at Grasmere. It involves 10,400 feet of elevation, including a 30 per cent elevation at Hardnott.
The event organisers said that they had sent out event information packs in the post to riders. This will have rider notes, registration card and car park pass.
The two times to register are on Saturday, May 6 from 1.00pm to 5.00pm at Grasmere Sports Ground, or Sunday, May 7 from 6.00am to 7.45am also from the sports ground.
After registration, riders can start at any time between 6am and 8am.
The organisers asked riders to check their brake pads, consider leaving on four-season tyres due to current road conditions, get their bikes in for a service if affordable, check their gearing, and check all the bolts on the bikes are tightened appropriately.
