BARROW boss Pete Wild was left seething after his side’s 1-0 defeat at Harrogate Town.
The Bluebirds saw their best undefeated run since they returned to the Football League ended by the strugglers at the EnviroMent Stadium.
Matthew Daly scored the only goal of the game as the visitors suffered their first defeat since Valentine’s Day.
And it’s a defeat that has left a bitter taste in Wild’s mouth after a lacklustre performance.
Barrow are tenth and now seven points off the play-off places with nine games remaining.
“We’ve got to be better than that, it’s not good enough,” insisted Wild.
“The mood’s rubbish because we’ve done nothing. We haven’t done anything good, we haven’t done anything bad, we’ve done nothing. It’s wound me up so much.
“We had to change the shape because they were getting down the sides too much and that’s on me.
“I probably didn’t pick the right shape, but I thought I picked the right team. But on that [performance] no-one comes out of it with credit.
“I said to them in the dressing room to really analyse the performance and ‘what have you done in the game? You’ve done nothing’. That really, really frustrates me.
“It should have been 0-0 like last week. They got away with it last week because of the weather conditions and the way Sutton play.
“You’ve got to go and be the aggressor, take it to them. Harrogate are right down there and are on the ropes.
“We should come here and really get after that, but we haven’t. It’s so frustrating.
“I spoke about it at the hotel about being the ones to hunt them down and be aggressive and nick the ball, but we didn’t do anything.
“We’re at our best when we’re intense and we’re in people's faces. We’ve had a couple of chances, we’ve got to take our chances when they come.
“We’re a team that doesn’t create too many chances because of the way we play, we shut the back door.”
The game looked destined to finish as a stalemate just like last week’s encounter with Sutton United with chances few and far between.
Both sides flirted with a winner at times, but it was the hosts who got the all important goal.
But Wild was left dumbfounded at the naivety of his players to be caught out by a quick free-kick which opened them up.
He moaned: “You’ve got to stand on the free-kick, even if you get a yellow card for standing on the free-kick. If you do that and stop it the goal doesn’t happen.
“It’s a frustrating day because both of the teams have done nothing.
“I’m sorry for the fans coming all that way, they were brilliant from start to finish and both teams have done nothing to entertain them.”
