Doncaster 26
Barrow 18
Barrow were well below par as they enabled the Dons to get their first win in six games at the Keepmoat Stadium yesterday.
Jamie Dallimore pulled Barrow level with a 40-yard penalty goal with seven minutes left on the clock, only for on-loan Luke McConnell to crash over with three minutes remaining for a converted try 20-14.
Shane Toal went over in the dying seconds but the touchline conversion attempt from Dallimore failed, 20-18, this prior to a late converted try on the hooter ending all hopes of an away victory.
The first half was dominated by both defences with the Dons having the edge in attack; they applied plenty of pressure which the Raiders soaked up. However pressure paid off when creative half back Martin Beharrell crossed for a try to which he added the conversion 6-0.
Barrow plugged away and were rewarded when Marky Tyson touched down for Dallimore to convert 6-6.
It was nip and tuck with the Raiders edging ahead at the break with two well-taken penalty goals from Dallimore 6-10 on the half-time hooter.
Doncaster applied the early second-half pressure with Barrow finding it hard to get out of their own half. Tindall went in for a try for the home side with Beharrell adding the goal, 12-10.
Dallimore brought the scores level with a penalty goal before Beharrell again put the home side ahead at 14-12.
Barrow, who rarely looked like scoring in the second period, saw a glorious opportunity go begging – Ritson made a telling break covering 40 yards before parting to Miloudi but with the line at his mercy dropped the ball.
Dallimore however did level the scores with a penalty goal 14-14 on 73 minutes.
Dons came back strong and once more went ahead with Tindall bustling his way under the posts for Sweeting to convert 20-14.
Barrow tried to get over the whitewash but the Dons held firm until ShaneToal went in at the corner and it was up to Dallimore to level the scores but his kick was wide, 20-18. Then Dallimore was sin-binned for back chatting and from this the home side went downfield for Tali to score and Sweeting to convert.
Barrow had the opportunity to claim top spot back from Workington who lost 18-40 at home to Crusaders but this defeat keeps them in second place.
