Holker Old Boys will be hoping the New Year will allow them to turn around their faltering form, with them travelling to Emley AFC in First Division North of the North West Counties League tomorrow.
Holker made a very encouraging start to their campaign, but seven defeats in their last eight games have dropped them into the bottom half.
They have had longer than they would have thought to prepare for their trip to third-placed Emley, after their away game against Golcar United was postponed last Saturday.
Our teams in the West Lancashire League are back from their winter break, with Vickerstown needing to haul themselves away from trouble in the Premier Division. They travel to Tempest United.
In Division One, third-placed Millom will have the chance to keep the pressure on the teams above them when they host Eagley, while Askam United are not out of the promotion equation, either.
The Duddon Road outfit have a tough task at Stoneclough, who sit second, while at the other end of the table, Crooklands Casuals have a crucial match at Hesketh Bank, who are above them only on goal difference.
Elsewhere in Division Two, Dalton United will look to push themselves up the standings when they welcome Freckleton and Furness Cavaliers are at home to Burnley United.
