Not all the fixtures in the Barrow & District Junior Football League beat the freezing temperatures, but the big game in the under-12s division led to Crooklands Casuals Oranges seizing top spot.
They did so after defeating the previously unbeaten Hawcoat Park Minions at Furness Academy, with Keiron Culley's not being enough for the visitors, as the Oranges moved ahead of them on goal difference.
Third-placed Holker Old Boys kept themselves in contention by hammering Furness Cavaliers 9-1 at Furness College, with Jack Payne leading their charge with four goals.
Tom Bradshaw helped himself to a hat-trick for Holker, whose other two goals came from Will McNally. All this Harrison Ross had equalised Payne's opener.
The other game in that age group saw Crooklands Casuals Blacks record a 5-1 victory against Furness Rovers Knights.
Just two games survived at under-14 level and both came in the Championship, with Millom Juniors Black keeping hold of the lead after an 11-3 win at Hawcoat Park under-13s.
Sam Fallows was unstoppable in finding the net seven times and he was backed up by Ellis Heasley, Josh Payne, Reece Bridges and Callum Clews.
Hawcoat Park Hawks are behind on goal difference despite them hammering Barrow Island 13-1, with Ethan Dooding scoring five of their goals.
In the under-16s Championship, Jack Sweeting was on target as Furness Rovers Royals claimed a 1-1 draw at Crooklands Casuals under-15s.
