An under-strength Ulverston side shared the spoils 22-22 with Oldham St Annes A in Division One of the North West Men's League last Saturday.
Connor Saunders was the hero at Dragley Beck as his late brace of tries and conversions salvaged what was a very creditable point, given the circumstances
Ulverston, with only five first team regulars available due to Mike Reekes' wedding, paraded several lads who had played the night before against Dalton in the Barrow & District League Top Four final at Craven Park.
They looked doomed to defeat with only ten minutes left on the clock, but they found their second wind from somewhere, as Saunders grabbed his brace after Howard Rowley and Matt Story had gone in for earlier tries.
Old stager Mike Backhouse went in for a converted try as Roose Pioneers came back from 24-22 down in the final two minutes to win 28-24 at Culcheth Eagles in Division Three.
Backhouse was an earlier try scorer along with a Corne Els a double and Will Mallinson. Backhouse kicked one goal as did Euon James while Josh Tranter added two to keep Pioneers in the thick of the play-off hunt.
Walney Central went down 66-14 at Thatto Heath Crusaders A in the Premier Division, as Ellis Rea crossed for a brace of tries while Jordan Staffieri also crossed the whitewash with Dave Nicholson adding one goal.
It was a tough day at the office for what was a makeshift Hindpool Tigers side, as they were hammered 84-14 by Pilkington Recs A in Division Two.
Walney welcome Orrell St James to Central Drive for what is their final game of the season on Saturday, while Hindpool finish off against Langworthy Reds.
